Alec Julian Melman is Co-Founder and Partner at Gotham Artists, a global talent agency and the parent company of Gotham Creative.

Alec was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, which may explain his no-nonsense approach to life and business. He graduated from Manhattan's Stuyvesant High School, his proudest academic achievement, and then received a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Maryland, followed by a J.D. from New York Law School (he is a recovering attorney, licensed to practice in New York State.) Before starting Gotham Artists, Alec worked at a top speakers bureau where he met his business partner, Daniel Ymar.

Alec's business and leadership philosophy is nearly entirely based upon Dale Carnegie's How To Win Friends and Influence People, with a smattering of corny business cliches (If it ain't broke don't fix it; we'll cross that bridge when we get to it; you have to break some eggs if you wanna make an omelet, etc) mixed in. He also firmly believes that success comes from surrounding yourself with people smarter than you, which is reflected in the Gotham Creative leadership team.

Like any true son of Brooklyn, he's loath to admit that he now lives quite happily in Bergen County, NJ with his wife, son, and daughter. In what spare time he can muster, Alec enjoys riding his bike all over NYC, playing tennis and hockey, collecting LPs and watching classic episodes of the Simpsons.
